Job Summary

Assistant Chef ensures the kitchen is orderly and assists Cooks to prepare and arrange food. Their duties include cleaning the kitchen area, washing dishes and utensils and ensuring that the Cook has everything required to run the kitchen efficiently.

Duties of Job

Assist Head Cook with food preparation and cooking of menu items
Perform cleaning duties such as washing dishes, wiping counters and cleaning kitchen areas
Ensure food safety standards are met and followed
Receive and store food items according to safety and sanitation guidelines
Monitor food temperatures and quality throughout the cooking process
Plate meals according to recipes and presentation standards
Ensure kitchen is properly stocked with necessary items

Skills/Competencies

KNIFE SKILLS. Whether you are chopping a carrot or fresh herbs, a basic understanding of culinary knife skills should be the first thing you master in the kitchen
