La Tropicale Mauricienne - Flacq, Mauritius

The company is based at FUEL Sugar Estate in the Eastern part of the island and currently employs twenty people at our 11 thousand s.f. EEC-grade processing plant on a permanent basis. During the fruit harvesting season we employ more than hundred people in the field in Mauritius or abroad. In addition, a commercial office is maintained at Port-Louis to receive on-line orders and dispatch them to the plant.
Foodservice (hotels & restaurants) have constituted our primary customer base since the very inception of the company in Paris in 1976. In the beginning of the eighties la Tropicale was even appointed by The Orient Express and The Presidency of the Republic at the Elysee Palace. La Tropicale is still today the preferred ice-cream supplier to circa 200 restaurants in Paris

Fruit Puree
Our line encompasses over twenty varieties ranging from tropical to European fruit. All our products are made in Mauritius. Fruit puree are used in the making of fruit juice & cocktail, sorbet & ice-cream, fruit paste, and fruit-based pastry (mousse, bavarois, parfait, crème, etc..). Some flavours such as tamarind or coco can also be used in cooking (marinating, sauce etc..).
Sorbet & ice-cream
There exist circa 30 flavour available in 5-liter tubs. Sorbet are made exclusively with fruit, water, sugar & carob powder. As such they make for a very healthy and light desert and are becoming increasingly popular with tourists.
Ice-cream contain exclusively dairy cream (no butter) and the best available raw materials such as Bourbon vanilla pods from Mauritius or Madagascar (gousse de vanille Bourbon).
Also available is a range of small 90 ml tubs as well as 90 ml sorbet sticks (bâtonnet au fruit) in four flavours : Victoria pineapple, Tropical mango, Purple passion fruit (passiflore) and Tamarind.
