Establishment year 1985
Company description
In 1985, the Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank (TDB), formerly the PTA Bank, was established. With assets of over US$ 5 billion, the Bank is a multilateral, treaty-based development financial institution with a mandate to finance and promote trade, regional economic integration, and sustainable development. Over the last five years, its shareholder base has expanded from 19 to 35 members, including 22 Member States from across the COMESA, EAC, and SADC, two non-African countries, and 11 institutional investors. During the same period, shareholder equity funds grew by 150%, annual net profits by 100%, and non-performing loans were cut in half. TDB has regional offices in Nairobi, Harare, and Addis Ababa, and principle offices in Bujumbura and Port-Louis.
