Bookcourt was founded in August 1996 and started to operate the first largest general trade bookstore at the Caudan Waterfront in Port Louis on Nov 1996.

At the time the Caudan Waterfront was the single largest shopping mall operating in Mauritius with its unique blend of history and view on the harbour.

Bookcourt was the fruitful partnership of the passion for books of our chairman, Mr Andre Lam and the vision of Mr Rene Leclezio, CEO of PAD Ltd – promoter of the Caudan Waterfront.

Our role as booksellers is to communicate our passion to the community and educate them in all aspects of their daily lives by bringing the latest titles and bestselling authors to the market.

Today we are currently operating five (5) bookstores in the major shopping malls on the island namely at Caudan Waterfront, LaCity Trianon, Bagatelle mall, Cascavelle Shopping Village and GrandBaie La croisette. New outlets and concept stores under consideration in the near future.

Over the years Bookcourt has consolidated its partnership with all the major publishers and distributors in the book industry. We are now the leading importer of French and English general trade books in Mauritius.

We have also evolved with the changing demands of the market and adapted our offer and expanded our products portfolio.

We are therefore the authorized distributors for major premium brands in Mauritius and Indian Ocean islands for Lamy Pens, Moleskine Notebooks, Go Travel, That If, Thinking Gifts, Leuchtturm notebooks, and Uniball/Posca writing instruments.

Our services have also expanded to include free gift wrapping, home delivery, customer orders, international orders and secure online payment using the latest mobile payment gateways.
