Alto Rio Ltd is a privately owned Company involved in the manufacturing and exports of high-quality garments. The Company is led by its founder, Anthony Koon, an RMIT (Australia) Graduate in Textiles Applied Science.

Based in Mauritius, Alto Rio was founded in 2016 and started as a manufacturing plant in partnership with a textile agency involved in the exports of garments and textile products to Sub-Saharan Africa.

In 2017, Alto Rio Ltd went through strategic reorientation by focusing solely on knitting and printing, and started exporting fabric to UK, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Towards the end of 2020, after the first Covid-19 lockdown, Alto Rio Ltd strategically diversified into garment making by investing its own generated funds on machinery and recruiting key personnel

after major factories closures in the country. In 2021, as borders gradually reopened and sanitary restrictions eased around the world, the Company soon started its first exports towards South Africa and neighbouring countries.

As a fresh set up and growing Company, Alto Rio Ltd has started by setting very high standards in terms of quality and production. The Company has built a strong foundation based on quality. With a good mix of youth and experience, Alto Rio Ltd aims to make a difference to the industry and bring value with a positive and refreshing approach. With a relatively young leadership, Alto Rio’s policy is to create a pleasant yet productive and efficient work environment. Alto Rio is currently a SEDEX member and operates within SMETA guidelines.

Since September 2022, Alto Rio Ltd has a monthly output of approximately 52,000 garments and apparel including t-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, joggers, jackets, hoodies, underwear, sportswear and more, being specialised in Jersey, Fleece, Interlock, and Rib fabrics. The Company currently employs 75 workers in production across cutting, make-up, printing, quality, and finishing departments, and admin staffs including designer, pattern maker, merchandiser, planner, and sample coordinator.

Today, the Company is no more producing its own fabric and has instead turned to specialist fabric suppliers. In turn, the factory’s primary focus is in printing, embroidery, and garment make-up. The current set up is more accustomed to the quality-driven rather than low end clientele. Within today’s challenging market, Alto Rio looks to create a unique bond with clients; we love to see our clients ‘collection materialise and each garment we make must have best chance of sell-out. We always have our clients’ best interest at heart and show flexibility when MOQ is a concern.

Our exports clientele to date has extended to Italy, France, and South Africa as we currently produce for internationally renowned fashion brands
