The main role of a checkout operator in a supermarket is to efficiently and accurately process customer transactions at the checkout. This includes scanning items, handling cash or card payments, issuing receipts, and providing excellent customer service

• Greet customers politely.
• Keep his/her station clean and tidy.
• Serve customers – handle payment by cash or cards, ensure to tender the right amount upon purchase.
• Assisting customers in packing or bagging their items, ensuring products are handled carefully.
• Return all unpurchased items to their designated place in the supermarket.
